Dear Anonymous,
Doors are fascinating, aren’t they? They can be gateways to our most intimate spaces or barriers to keep others out. What kind of impression do you want to leave — one that invites or one that shoos others away?
Here are some doors I’ve encountered while walking the Brooklyn sidewalks. I hope they can inspire you.
Do you have woodland creatures as friends? Then this is for you. Or if you have enemies who hate giant bunnies, then this is for them.
If you’re into Van Gogh’s impressionism, then this is for you.
A very pretty door, but be careful if you’re allergic to bees. They might frequent your door if you have this one.
I like this door. Not too much flair but has lots of intricate details. It’s warm. I want to open it.
Do you like Trolley from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood? Then this door is for you.
If you like lines, this is your door.
We have to keep at a distance these days due to the pandemic. So if you only want to see your tall friends through the glass at the top, then this door is for you. And your short friends can still slide some letters in through the mail slot.
Somehow this strikes me as both as a door leading into a cathedral but also a door to Beelzebub’s quarters. So if you’re riding the fine line of good and evil, this door is for you.
Just knock,
